Cemented carbide has a wide range of applications in the oil and gas sector. Due to their excellent wear resistance, high-temperature stability and corrosion resistance, they play a vital role in the process of oil and gas exploration, drilling, production and transportation.

Currently, in the oil and gas drilling industry, two commonly used drill bits are roller cone bits and polycrystalline diamond compact (PDC) bits, both of which incorporate cemented carbide components. Cemented carbide buttons are assembled onto the cutting edges of roller cone drill bits, responsible for rock cutting and strata fragmentation. In the case of polycrystalline diamond compact (PDC) bits, during rock cutting, PDC serves as the working surface while the tungsten carbide substrate provides support for the polycrystalline diamond.
